Nature of the work

The Dining Room Supervisor plans and directs the activities related to the preparation and the service of meals and beverages and performs the same functions as the servers.

Main functions

  • Has a professional appearance;
  • Supervises the organization of personnel and equipment to ensure client satisfaction;
  • Plan and directs the activities related to the preparation and service of meals;
  • Ensures that food quality conforms to standards;
  • Handles complaints in accordance with Pizza Delight’s procedures;
  • Evaluates the requirements and the cost of beverages;
  • Evaluates the requirements and the cost of labour;
  • Oversees the activities of the waiters and other dining room personnel;
  • Insures and maintains a good work environment;
  • Assists in recruiting and hiring the dining room personnel;
  • Explains the new recipes and the new equipment to the dining room personnel;
  • Orders the food and supplies;
  • Trains waiters to prepare, garnish and present the meals;
  • Executes all other tasks as requested by the manager or the franchisee.

Requirements

This type of employment requires 1 to 2 years of experience as a server or dining room team leader. The ability to quickly grasp the facts and of complex situations, an analytical mind, attention to detail, ability with numbers, the ability to make decisions and an openness towards change are required.Interpersonal skills, easiness at meeting people, teamwork, collaboration, leadership, the ability to adapt to a situation, and good communications skills are required. Bilingualism may be required.Good personal grooming, confidence, integrity, stress management skills, dynamism, energy, autonomy, initiative, availability, flexibility and orientation towards quality are required.

Working conditions

Work hours are generally pre-scheduled and there is occasional overtime. The schedule varies according to the position, daytime, the night time or the weekend. It is frequently required to work evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. The schedule may contain split shifts. Work is rather intense at mealtimes. The work environment is noisy and there can be pressure to maintain the work pace. Occasional office work may be required.
