Nature of the work

The cooks prepare and cook the food. They can also perform the same functions as the dishwashers. The kitchen helpers are included in this work group.

Main functions

  • Applies the health regulations as to cleanliness;
  • Applies the safety regulations;
  • Applies WHMIS;
  • Complies with the guidelines related to the proper usage of equipment;
  • Complies with the guidelines related to the maintenance tasks of the restaurant and equipment;
  • Ensures constant cleanliness of his or her work area;
  • Organizes efficiently his or her work area and his or her work;
  • Complies with Pizza Delight restaurants recipes;
  • Unpacks and stores the stock in the refrigerators, the storerooms and other storage areas;
  • Stores the products and preparations according to the probable conservation period;
  • Complies with preparation time standards;
  • Maintains consistency in the quality of food preparation as to the taste, the appearance and as to the cooking temperature;
  • Identifies the various components of Pizza Delight menu;
  • Prepares the various Pizza Delight menu items;
  • Maintains a consistency in the quality of the food;
  • Executes all other tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

This type of employment requires little experience. A certain amount of manual dexterity and physical stamina may be required. The ability to work as part of a team and to maintain the pace of production is required. Attention to detail and the ability to quickly understand facts are required.

Working conditions

Work hours are generally pre-scheduled and there is occasional overtime. The schedule varies according to the position, daytime, the night time or the weekend. It is frequently required to work evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. There is a possibility of part-time work. The schedule may contain split shifts. Work is rather intense at mealtimes. The work environment is noisy and there can be pressure to maintain the work pace. There is a risk of cuts, scrapes and burns.
